Help Animals Veterinary Services started as a 1 person company providing relief veterinary services. After a year of offering expert veterinary care to St. Petersburg and surrounding area clinics during their time of need, Dr. Canavan has finally found a veterinary practice to call home. Purchasing Care Animal Hospital of Seminole is truly a dream come true.

Dr. Canavan graduated from St. George's University School of Veterinary Medicine after completing her fourth year clinical rotations at The University of Tennessee. She then completed a one year rotating internship in medicine, surgery and emergency care at Nashville Veterinary Specialists in 2013. She practiced at a busy small animal hospital in metro Atlanta for 4 years before relocating to the sunny beaches of St. Petersburg in 2017. After 4 years of full time general practice here she started Help Animals Veterinary Relief to better serve her families needs and the community of St. Petersburg and surrounding areas. Now she is embarking on a new journey into practice ownership and is excited to provide compassionate, expert veterinary care to all pets in her new home Care Animal Hospital of Seminole.

From annual exams to illnesses or injuries, your pets will receive the best medical care.
Annual and wellness exams offer us as veterinarians a glimpse into the health and overall wellbeing of our patients. Sick or injured pets rely on us to find their problem and "tell their story" so that their owners have a clear understanding of their pets condition and the diagnostic tests and treatment needed to manage it. Every patient will be given a thorough physical exam and all findings explained in detail in a compassionate and caring manner.
General Surgical Services
At our new home, Dr. Canavan can provide expert surgical care.
Services offered: Dental surgery, mass and tumor removals, castrations, dog and cat OHE (spays), laceration repairs, bladder surgery, and many more. Dr. Canavan has a special interest in dental surgery and neoplastic tumor removal. We also have access to a board certified surgeon for large and giant dog spays, gastro-pexy and many other advanced surgeries.
General Ultrasound capabilities
Abdominal ultrasound for general diagnostics, cystocentesis, abdominocentesis, thoracocentesis, and FAST scan for emergencies.
